Stanton Community School District ESSER III Plan

On March 11, 2021, President Biden signed the American Rescue Plan (ARP) Act of 2021 into law.  The ARP Act authorized a third round of emergency coronavirus relief to schools across the county through the Elementary and Secondary School Relief Fund (ESSER III).  These funds are allocated to school districts to help safely reopen schools, sustain the safe operation of schools, and address the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on students.

The allocation for the Stanton Community School District is $196,938.46.  Districts may use these funds for expenses occurred from July 1, 2021, to June 30, 2023.  Additionally, each district must reserve no less than 20% ($37,795.46) of such funds to address learning loss through the implementation of evidence-based interventions in response to impact resulting from the coronavirus pandemic.

In order for districts to receive these funds, they must make a plan for the safe return to in-person instruction and continuity of services publicly available on its website.  The Stanton CSD submitted a compliant “Return-to-Learn” Plan by July 1, 2020, to the Iowa Department of Education.  This plan was reviewed and revised, while seeking public comment, during the open meeting of the Stanton Board of Education on August 18, 2021.

Also, during the August 18, 2021, open meeting of the Stanton Board of Education, public comment was sought on how to use the ESSER III funding to meet the needs of the Stanton CSD stakeholders.  The following plan outlines the priorities as a result.  It should be noted that the Stanton Board of Directors are aware that this plan may need to be updated and/or revised as the COVID-19 pandemic progresses.
