Homework Assignments Online
We have many parents who would like to have a way to see daily assignments as a way to help make sure that their son or daughter has their work completed and that they get it handed in on time.
The 6th-12th staff will work this week to learn and practice posting homework assignments. They will officially begin posting these on JMC starting January 9th.
Directions for parents and students to check their assignments is as follows:
1) Log into JMC with your password like always.
2) Go to "Lesson Plans" (on left hand side)
3) This will bring up a calendar that has your son/daughter's class assignments. Each class is a different color. If you click on the specific assignment then the entire assignment will appear.
4) This is the information the teacher posted.
5) If you have multiple children then at the top left hand part of the page you will have a menu to scroll down to find which child you want.
If you still have questions you can always email or call the teacher.
Driver’s Education
We will be starting driver's education earlier this year. The date for starting is tentatively set for February 8th. It will last until approximately the end of April. The classroom portion will be mainly Wednesdays from 4:30 PM-6:30 PM and Saturday mornings from 8:00 AM-10:00 AM. Driving will be scheduled on the other days (not Sundays). We will cut the number off at 24 so please get signed up as soon as possible. The specific cost has not determined yet. Signup sheet is in the High School office. If you have questions please call the office at 712-829-2162.
Parking While Picking Up Students After School
We have several parents/guardians that pick their students up after school. The parking area when you pick the students up is between the school and Viking Center or right north of the Viking Center in the parking lot. The main reason is for safety of the students. We want to have fewer vehicles around the buses. Also there are several vehicles that are blocking Halland Village resident’s vehicles. Please follow these guidelines for parking to pick up students.
Entering the School to Pick Up Students
We have many parents/guardians that enter the school at the end of the day to pick up students. We would like anyone wishing to enter the school at the end of the day to not plan on coming in until 3:00 PM. There will be a cone outside the door and when the cone is brought in that will signal when it is 3:00 PM and you may buzz the door to gain entry. If you need to talk to Jody Druivenga in the office we ask that you call or wait until 3:00 PM. This ensures that classes will not be interrupted until they dismiss for the end of the day. Thank you.

ATHLETICS
Viking Basketball
The Vikings were able to end the 2016 portion of the season with 2 solid wins. One was at Sidney vs the Cowboys. They are a solid team and getting a good victory at their place said a lot of how we are playing right now. We were able to take that momentum into Clarinda Academy. We started out a little slow but were able to overcome the poor start and get another good victory on the road going into the break.
Viqueen Basketball
Sidney defeated the Viqueens 64-33 in Corner Conference action. The fast pace play caused numerous problems for the Queens. Stanton 5-3 continued Conference play last night with a makeup game vs Fremont-Mills, followed with a game tonight vs South Page.
