STANTON COMMUNITY SCHOO BULLETIN DECEMBER 22, 2016

School will be dismissal at 1:05/1:15 on Thursday, December 22nd. This is a change from the school calendar.

SCHOOL ACTIVITIES

Junior Class Fundraiser

The Junior Class will be having a fundraiser at all home varsity basketball games to raise money for the Junior/Senior Prom. During halftime of the varsity games you can have a chance to win a prize by making a three point basket for the cost of a $1.00 for 2 balls.

PRINCIPAL

Starting New Semester

When classes start on January 4th it will mark the beginning of the 2nd semester.  Normally the 1st semester ends around the middle of January but this year it ends when we are dismissed on December 22nd.

Parking While Picking Up Students After School

We have several parents/guardians that pick their students up after school. The parking area when you pick the students up is between the school and Viking Center or right north of the Viking Center in the parking lot. The main reason is for safety of the students. We want to have fewer vehicles around the buses. Also there are several vehicles that are blocking Halland Village resident’s vehicles. Please follow these guidelines for parking to pick up students.

Entering the School to Pick Up Students

We have many parents/guardians that enter the school at the end of the day to pick up students. We would like anyone wishing to enter the school at the end of the day to not plan on coming in until 3:00 PM. There will be a cone outside the door and when the cone is brought in that will signal when it is 3:00 PM and you may buzz the door to gain entry. If you need to talk to Jody Druivenga in the office we ask that you call or wait until 3:00 PM. This ensures that classes will not be interrupted until they dismiss for the end of the day. Thank you.

Viking Basketball

The Boys basketball team was able to get a non-conference win vs Griswold on Monday night. The Vikings pulled away the 2nd half and were able to post a 70-48 win vs the Tigers. That pushed our record to 5-0 on the young season.

Viqueen Basketball

Viqueens won a close one 53-49 over visiting Griswold on Monday night.  “The defense stepped it up tonight limiting extra shots and shots from the paint". Coach Snyder said. The team shooting was on another level with Kami Tibben coming through in the 1st half and Chelsea Weis in the 2nd.

Junior High Girls Basketball

The junior high girls team played against South Page in College Springs. Both teams worked hard for all four quarters. The Viqueens came out with a win, 34-32. We have also been in action with Heartland Christian in Stanton. We won 34-20 to a quick team that presses well. The team faced East Mills again and Stanton finished 52-10. The Queens played another two quarters and won, 14-8.  Recently traveling to Essex, the Viqueens finished with another win, 28-23.
