Accelerated Reader Party
The school year is coming to an end and it is time to celebrate! Students who have made their Accelerated Reader goal for 3rd and 4th quarters will be going to the YMCA on Wednesday, May 25th.
The bus will leave at 12:15 PM from Stanton and leave from Red Oak by 2:45 PM. Students will be allowed to use the swimming pool and the basketball courts. There will also be a snack and drink provided by the PTSO.
Students should bring a swimsuit and towel for the pool. Gym (PE) shoes would also be very useful for the basketball courts. It works best if the student can fit everything into a bag. The drawstring bags work really well!
We look forward to celebrating the reading achievements!!
Talent Show
There will be an informal Talent Show for Grades 3rd-5th on Wednesday, May 25th, from 8:45 AM-9:30 AM in the high school gym.
Kindergarten Class Field Trip
The kindergarten class went on a field trip Tuesday, May 17th, to Red Oak. We toured many places in the Hy-Vee store, including the kitchen, bakery, storage in the back, freezer, dairy and flower cooler, and saw the crusher smashing boxes. We tasted yummy strawberries in the produce department and ate fresh cookies after we got back to school. At the YMCA we were shown the gym, tennis and racquet ball courts, pool, weightlifting area, and track. Their favorite was running around the track. John Blomstedt also gave each student a day pass to the YMCA. The last stop was Pizza Ranch where they made 6 large pizzas for us and gave us the party room. We really appreciated the great hospitality shown to our 26 students and 7 chaperones by these Red Oak businesses. Now we are drawing pictures of our experiences for thank you posters.
