Senior Parents And Students

A free financial aid meeting has been scheduled for TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 3rd at 7:00 PM in the high school library. It should last for about an hour, but the presenter will be happy to stay and answer questions.
Stanton High School Veterans Day Program
The Stanton Senior Government class will be hosting a Veterans Day Program on Wednesday, November 11th, beginning at 10:00 AM in the high school gymnasium. Refreshments will be served following the program. All veterans and community members are encouraged and invited to attend.

Corner Conference Vocal Festival

Corner Conference Vocal Festival will be held November 16th in Essex and will involve the entire choir. Afternoon rehearsal will commence at 1:00 PM with a concert at 6:30 PM. Please contact Mr. Mennenoh with any questions.

7th and 8th Grade TAG
Four students (Easton Hultman, Haylie Huddle, Kegan Sundberg, and Olivia Soar) toured the Strategic Air Command Museum in Ashland Nebraska on October 29th on a TAG Field Trip. They participated in a guided tour about WWII and the Cold War.

Scholastic Book Fair

The Scholastic Book Fair will be held in the elementary school concourse. Dates for the fair are Friday, October 30th, through Thursday, November 5th. Come and visit the fair during Parent/Teacher Conferences or during school hours.

Free Homework Help

The Viking Center is offering free homework help again this year after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:15-5:00. If your child is planning to go there after school, they need to sign up in the office that morning.

Stanton Trash Bag Fundraiser

Fall is rapidly approaching! We still have a supply of trash bags for sale for all of your fall leaf collection needs. The bags are of great quality. Sizes available are 15 gallon, 39 gallon and 55 gallon and are $10.00 per roll. Please contact the elementary office at 829-2171 if you are interested in purchasing trash bags.

Book Closet

The Stanton PTSO is working on a project and needs your help! We are helping the elementary teachers start a book closet. This book closet will have leveled books so teachers can provide reading instruction to meet the needs of the students. A letter will be coming home with elementary students soon. For a $25 donation, you can sponsor a set of books. We will put a label inside the book if it's in honor or memory of someone. Our goal is to raise $1,000. The deadline for this project is November 16th. Please contact Jenny Gettler (621-6420) if you have any questions. Thank you for supporting our students!

Reminder For Parents

As stated in the school handbook: Every effort should be made toward getting students to school every day on time. Much of the child’s progress depends on his/her regular attendance at school as students who do not attend school on a regular basis develop gaps in their learning. Students with poor attendance patterns are more likely

to drop out before graduation from high school. Parents should not expect their child to be promoted if skills are not mastered due to

excessive absences. Elementary students that arrive to school after 10:00 A.M. and MS/HS students that arrive after 2nd period will be counted a half day absent for the morning and elementary students that leave before 2:00 PM and MS/HS students that leave before 2:10 PM  will be counted a half day absent for the afternoon.

PARENTS NEED TO CALL THE SCHOOL EACH DAY THAT A STUDENT IS NOT IN SCHOOL. A written note is required only if the parents or guardian does not make telephone contact. Written excuses from the parent should include:

  1. Date of absence
  2. Exact reason for absence
  3. Parent’s signature

All parents are asked to call the elementary office (829-2171) or the MS/HS office (829-2162) if your child will be absent/late/leaving early

from school. It is very important that communication is made to the school. A note from the doctor, dentist, etc, is required upon returning to school.

ATHLETICS

From The Stanton Administration

Now that the home games for volleyball and football are over for this season, we would like to thank all the people who help in so many different ways in the administration of the volleyball and football games. We could not host games without your willingness to volunteer your time. Thank you.

Viking Football

The Vikings ended their regular season in fine fashion, holding the Nishnabotna Blue Devils scoreless. The Vikings finished undefeated at home and qualified to participate in state playoffs. The Vikings traveled to Glidden Wednesday night to take on a big, strong, and aggressive, undefeated #1 seed; Glidden-Ralston. The Viking defense was unable to stop the G-R offensive attack and fell behind early, but kept it to a 1 touchdown game at half. The second half was all Glidden-Ralston and the Viking's season came to an end.

Thank You

The Viking football players and coaches would like to thank all of those special people who volunteer their time during the football games. Your efforts do not go unnoticed and we really appreciate your support of our program, school, and community. Thanks again!

Viqueen Volleyball

The Viqueens continue down the regional trail as they hosted Essex on Tuesday, October 27th for a quarter-final regional match. The Viqueens won the first set (25-12), dropped the second set (21-25) and then went on to power through the next two sets (25-16 and 25-21) for the victory. The Viqueens will travel to Bedford tonight for the regional semi-final match against Mount Ayr. Game time is 7:00 PM.  Admission is $6.00 for all. Please come out and support the Queens – we love to see so many supporters in the crowd! Be loud and proud!

PRINCIPAL

Today is the end of the 1st quarter.  We hope you take advantage of our parent teacher conferences on Thursday, November 5th from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM. High School Staff will be in their rooms until 2:00 PM then they will be located in the library. As always, I encourage you to contact any staff any time if you have questions.
