The Junior Varsity girls put in a winning three-set battle against Southwest Valley and also won the East Union match in two sets. The varsity Viqueens came out strong against East Union and took the match in two sets with scores of 25-18 and 25-19. In the match against Southwest Valley, the Queens dropped the first set 20-25 and then came back to win the second set 25-22 before dropping a very close third set 12-15.

The varsity Viqueen team will travel to Bedford on Saturday for the Bedford Tournament. The schedule for the team is as follows:

10:00      Stanton vs. Murray in large gym

11:30      Stanton vs. Lamoni in small gym

12:15      Stanton vs. Bedford in small gym

Game times are approximate. Consolation and championship brackets to follow pool play. Admission is $6.00 for adults and $4.00 for students.

The team will enter into Corner Conference tournament play beginning on Monday, September 30th. The schedule is included in the bulletin.

Junior Varsity Team Wins Griswold Tournament for Third Consecutive Year

On Saturday, September 21st, the junior varsity team traveled to Griswold to participate in the Griswold JV Tournament. In pool play, the Queens won all of their matches: Clarinda Academy (21-11, 21-7), Griswold (21-14, 18-21, 15-8), Sidney (21-18, 25-13) and Shenandoah (18-21, 21-7, 15-7). The Viqueens put in a strong performance working very well as a team on the court and won the tournament for the third consecutive year. Great job girls!

Viking Football

The JV team lost their first game of the season this past Monday 42-44 to the Sidney Cowboys. With a record of 2-1, they will head to Griswold next Monday.

The varsity team coming off of a bye week, will host a very scrappy East Mills team, who comes into town with a perfect 2-0 record in district play. The Vikings look to tarnish their record and fight for a homecoming win! Go Vikings!

Junior High Volleyball

The junior Viqueens hosted Bedford on Thursday, September 19th.  The young Queens did an outstanding job and took all sets that they played over the Bulldogs. Set scores were 21-17, 21-12, 21-10, 21-14, 21-17, 21-10 and 15-8. On Tuesday, September 24th, the team traveled to Hamburg to take on the Wildcats. The Queens turned in set scores of 21-17, 10-21, 4-15 and 19-21, 21-18 and 19-17. The team will have next week off due to Corner Conference tournament action and will return to the court on Tuesday, October 8th, as they travel to take on the East Mills squad.

Junior High Football

The Junior High football team kicked off Homecoming week Monday night with a 44-40 win over the Sidney Cowboys. The boys held off a big comeback from the Cowboys and walked away with their first win of the season. They look to keep rolling next Monday at Griswold. Thank you to everyone who came out to cheer on the team and we look forward to the rest of the season. Go Vikes!
