Stanton Government Class Interviews Local Veterans!
On November 10th, 2017, Mr. Snyder’s Government class put on a program to celebrate and honor our Veterans. He and his students hosted a breakfast (Sponsored by FMTC and prepared by the kitchen staff & Mrs. Brooke) before the program for the veterans and their families. They decided as a group that instead of having one guest speaker prepare a speech for the event, they would create a presentation and interview three veterans. Marvin Carlson, Homer Focht and Jim Wigstone are veterans whom all served in WWII. The students prepared a speech about each of the veterans using the stories and information they gave them. It was a moving and personal presentation.
The 7-12 grade band played, high school choir sang, and the fifth-grade choir sang as well. Mr. Snyder’s students spoke for the presentation as well, reading President Trump’s Proclamation, and a brief history of Veteran’s day. The students also served cookies and coffee after the program. Mr. Snyder and his Government class would like to sincerely thank everyone who attended their program, the bands and choirs for performing, the student speakers and the veterans they spoke with. They would most like to thank all of the veterans of the United States for all the sacrifices they make and the hard work they do.
