Santa Lucia:

Santa Lucia is tomorrow night, Saturday, December 12th at 7:00 PM. in the high school gymnasium. All students in grades first through sixth grade will be performing their Christmas music for you.

Students need to be at the gym between 6:45 – 6:50 and SEATED QUIETLY on the stage bleachers on the north end of the stage. The students will know where they are to be seated and we ask that they stay seated once they arrive at the gym. The fourth through sixth graders who are dancing are asked to meet in the weight room by 6:45 PM.

Reminder of what to wear:

Boys: White shirts, dark pants, red vest, red tie or red suspenders (if you have one)

Girls: White blouse, colored skirt (red, blue, or yellow), apron (if you have one), red or white tights or knee socks

Santa Lucia Practice:

There will be a rehearsal Saturday at 10:00 AM in the gym for all 4th, 5th, and 6th grade girls and 5th and 6th boys. No 4th grade boys. It will last around 45 minutes.

Santa Lucia Caroling:

All junior and senior girls who are participating in caroling for Santa Lucia should meet in the Halland Village Community room immediately after school on Friday, December 11th to package cookies. The girls will then meet in the elementary school parking area at 8:00 AM on Saturday, December 12th to carol and deliver cookies plates. All girls should be dressed in their Swedish outfit. If you have any questions, please contact Dawn Weis or Jody Druivenga.

Santa Lucia Food Booth:

The annual food booth on the night of Santa Lucia will be in the school concourse as in past years. This helps to fund the Santa Lucia Festival of Lights. All that can are encouraged to bring items to sell &/or to come to purchase; they may be left on the tables on the north side of the concourse any time on Saturday. Tack Sa Mycket!

Santa Lucia:

For the 64th year, Stanton will begin its holiday season with the traditional Swedish Santa Lucia Festival of Lights to be held on Saturday, December 12th at 7:00 PM in the Stanton High School gym.

This is an all-community project that has been growing each year to give people and children of the community an understanding and appreciation of their Swedish heritage. Newcomers of the community, with no Swedish background, are encouraged to join in on the fun. Newcomers enter wholeheartedly into the project, which begins early in the morning and lasts throughout the day until after the coronation of the queen in the evening.

Voting will take place at the Stanton Senior Center between the hours of 9:00 AM and 3:30 PM. Residents of the Stanton School district who are school age and above are eligible to vote. Families of open enrolled students may also vote. The candidate receiving the most votes will be crowned Santa Lucia Queen that evening.

Christmas Cards to Soldiers:Christmas 1.jpg

Here is the response from the 7th and 8th Graders Christmas Cards that were sent to Yokota, Japan!

He has handed the cards out to a lot of the young airmen/women in his building and he can say the response was, "thank you very much" with a big smile his/her face.  From his perspective it has been very heartwarming.  Thank you so much for thinking of the overseas service members.

Being in Tokyo, or elsewhere overseas for Christmas isn't terrible, but it will never be the same as we remember back in the US.  For most it's a special time apart from mom, dad, and other close family members.  The cards really did add a bit of the "special-ness" back into the holiday.

“THANK YOU FOR TAKING A LITTLE BIT OF TIME OUT OF YOUR DAY TO SAY SOMETHING SPECIAL”

Stadium Seats:

The Booster Club still has some stadiums seats available for $45.00. They would make excellent Christmas gifts!!  They can contact me at 712-370-8880 or there are some available in the elementary office.

The Student Council would like to join the Elementary classes and have a Holiday Food Drive to help area families.  We want to have a contest for all K-12 classes, to see who can “rack up” the most points from now until December 18, 2015.  The following point system will allow us to see which class can earn the most points.  The class with the most points will earn a movie and pizza party in January!
