GREAT JOB!!

Although Essex/South Page is much bigger than we are, pound for pound, we hit them harder and played the game well.  Beginning with recovering the opening kickoff, and ending late in the 4th quarter with an interception, we were determined to win the turnover ratio for the first time this season (3 takeaways; 2 giveaways).

Thank you Mark Lindgren for recording the game statistics!

Parents, Thank you for your efforts to help support your son/daughter in making a commitment to the AM conditioning.  We are definitely in a lot better shape than we started the season!  I forgot to add up how much weight everyone has lost during the season.  If I remember, I’ll add it up and post in my final comments of the season online as an additional stat.  I look forward to watching them continue to develop good work habits in the classroom, the weight room and in athletics.

Our Last Plan of Attack!

Opponent:  Lenox                                     Bus Departure:  2:30

Game Site:  Lenox                                   Game Time:  4:00-5:30

Anticipated time of return:  6:45

This week’s BIG Schstick!  Award

Coach Lura and I couldn’t identify any one single hit that stood in the game.  Due to the tremendous size of the Essex/South Page ball carriers, it was difficult bring them down in a solo effort.  So, the award this week is presented to the entire defense for their relentless pursuit and gang tackling.  As shown in the picture to the left, most of the tackles we made included 3-5 Vikings.  Great job defense!!  A shut-out.  I challenge you to make it 2 weeks in a row!

What’s Left?  What’s Next?

Oct. 18           Mon                            Game 5 vs Lenox

Oct. 19-20      Tue-Wed       Clean equipment at home

Oct. 21            Th                           Turn in equipment

Beginning next week, Mr. Nimrod will be taking athletes during period 8 for PE.  Junior High basketball is right around the corner.  I encourage football players to continue being active and involved in extra curricular activities as well as staying on top of their academics.  Remember, the first quarter ends next Friday, October 22.

Equipment will be turned in Thursday.  Please be sure to have everything with you.  Here is a list to double-check:

Helmet, practice pants, game pants, practice jersey, game jersey, belt, and the following pads:  hip, spine (butt), thigh, knees, and shoulder

Thanks again to those of you who helped with the chains on the sideline.  I really appreciated your help.
