Vikings vs Rebels
Yeah! A home game!
Opponent: South Page Rebels
Game Site: Stanton
Game Time: 4:00
Making it work with 7
The junior Vikes played well against Villisca with 7. I feel good knowing we have not played our best game of the season yet. We have plenty of room for improvement. The things we focused on this week included: open field tackling, having 5 players on the line of scrimmage, recovering fumbles, and reducing penalties.
Monday, we will be playing with one less player on the field than our opponent again. And that is only if everyone we have left is healthy. One of our young men has gone home sick today. Please make sure they get enough sleep over the weekend, but stay active.
Looking ahead
Things continue to look tough. Our numbers will improve to 8 if everyone is healthy next Monday, but #8 will be joining us having not practiced for 2 whole weeks. I believe the team will be able to handle playing with 7 every now and then to allow some coaching on the sideline.
The classroom has shown improvement from the student athletes that are still on the team. However, we all need to continue to place academics ahead of athletics.
Make Up Game Status
We now have only 2 options to replace the Sidney/Farragut game:
Option 1: Sidney/Farragut petition the state for a 6th game and they play us on Monday, Oct. 19.
Option 2: We don’t make it up do to our lack of numbers.
Sidney/Farragut should have an answer for us by early next week.
