Junior Vikings Football Newsletter #2
Friday, September 11, 2008 Coach Grebin 829-2162
It’s Game time!
The “nifty nine”, as they have been nicknamed, are showing improvement, both in the AM conditioning sessions and at our regular practices. THANK YOU for your support in making these AM sessions a success. Reaching our team goals will be more realistic as a result of your efforts. Our first game will give us coaches a much better feel for what positions on the field will be the best for each athlete within the scope of what is best for the TEAM. The coaching staff has had to be very creative in setting up drills that best simulate as many game –like situations as possible. However, we’ll be learning A LOT during the games. Hopefully the lessons will not be too costly on the scoreboard.
The Plan of Attack!
Opponent: East Mills Wolverines Bus Departure: 2:45
Game Site: Nishna Valley Game Time: 4:00-5:30
Anticipated time of return: 6:00
An Athlete’s Playing Time
How much playing time each athlete will have is determined by attitude, attendance, ability, physical and mental toughness, and knowledge of our system. A player’s attitude is defined by his willingness to put his team first; his hustle from one activity to the next; his cooperation with teammates; his desire to improve himself and the team in every drill, practice and game; and his willingness to do whatever it takes to be prepared to be the best he can be to make a contribution to the team—this includes keeping up on schoolwork and staying eligible.
Newsletters
Please ask your son for a newsletter each Friday after practice. The third newsletter will be distributed next Friday, September 18 (Homecoming). All newsletters will be available on the Junior Vikings Football webpage.
Pictures/Video/Stats
With the help of Tyler Stubbendeck (#6), Hunter Day (#2) and Jerry Hamilton, I will have pictures, video, and accurate team stats from each game. Game information will then posted online within a few days following the game.
H20 bottles
The team will be supplied with a large cooler of water; however, the athletes will be responsible for supplying their own water container.

Not Riding The Bus Back To Stanton?
Those athletes who choose to either stay at the East Mills Middle School to watch the JV play OR choose not to ride home on the bus with the team, will need a parent to notify a coach in person following the game. REMEMBER, in order to ride home with a parent following the game, the parent must contact the coach in person following the event. Also, if an athlete is going to ride home with any adult other than their own parents, they will need to have a signed note from their parents naming the adult(s) who will be responsible for their son. The post-game contact with a coach must then be made by the adult(s) named in the note.
IF YOU HAVE ANY RESERVATIONS ABOUT YOUR SON BEING PICTURED OR LISTED ON THE WEBSITE, PLEASE SEE COACH GREBIN.
