The Vikes are asking for your support this next week, January 21-25, of their project to raise funds for Coaches vs. Cancer.  Coaches vs. Cancer is a joint effort by the American Cancer Society and the National Association of Basketball Coaches  that empowers basketball coaches, schools and communities nationwide to help fight cancer. This year the Iowa Basketball Coaches Association has joined ranks in this cause to raise funds and awareness, and WE are proud to be associated in this effort locally, where volunteerism allows for all proceeds to go directly to the American Cancer Society.

Our theme here at school will be “’Change’ for a better future”, where we will encourage students and others to chip in change on the designated days scheduled.

Cut out basketballs will be available all week at the High School’s Main Entrance, Viking View Oil and Great Western Bank.  They may be purchased for a minimum donation of $1.00, with a place to write the name of an acquaintance or loved one affected by cancer.  Tax deductible donations may be given:
        In Memory Of  someone lost to cancer;
        In Honor Of someone currently battling cancer or a cancer survivor or
        In Support Of someone affected indirectly by the disease.
These basketballs will be collected daily and attached to the walls in our school lunchroom/concourse for display. We encourage you to fill out a ball for each $1.00 that you donate.

The total raised will be announced and a check presented at the home basketball game on Tuesday, Jan. 29.
